Without a doubt, the makers of Harry and David Pepper and onion relish want a bunch of customers to get sick. I have tried repeatedly and others the same to find out what the shelf life is once opened and refrigerated. No one cares to answer. I will just purchase the grocery story brand from now on.
Pam, we are sorry you have not received an answer to your question.
Our Pepper and Onion relish is safe for consumption, if unopened, for up to two years from receipt. Once opened, the product should be refrigerated and consumed within one month. Please note that is an estimate, which can be affected by other factors. Please email us at social@harryanddavid.com if you have any other questions, and we would be happy to help.
Ann, we can say that it can completely be paired with vegetables.
The Pepper and Onion Relish Dip is a favorite around here, and we have seen it paired with a verity of things. We encourage you to give it a try. If you have any other questions, please contact us at social@harryanddavid.com.
I also us it in my chili…adds just the right amount of “kick” to it! Never make meatloaf without it anymore…for the last few years, I buy it by the case…not have the office girls hooked on this too ! Great product! One of the favorites for our Christmas Eve appetizer selection too.
A friend of mine made the Pepper and Onion Relish dip for a party. It was so delicious I asked her how to make it. She not only gave me the instructions, she also gave me a jar of the relish. I served it at my granddaughter’s celebration party after her pinning as LPN. The tortilla chips were gone but we were not to be denied…Doritos nacho cheese chips were used and every delicious bite was eaten! I will be placing my first order!
I usually purchase the 10oz size relish and add cream cheese, it is often gone within a day. However this time I bought the 26oz size. I was wondering if I remove 10oz from the jar and and mix it with cream cheese in a separate bowl , how long will the remaining unmixed ,opened jar of relish be good for in my refrigerator?
Thank you
Jong, we have strict requirements for products that we call gluten free which includes certification or product analysis and production in a facility that does not process gluten. As such, only items that are labeled as Gluten Free are certified as being gluten free. As our Pepper and Onion Relish is processed in a facility that also processes items with gluten, we cannot certify that it is gluten free.
Randy, what a great question. Since we have never actually tried this recipe heated, we advise that you take care in heating the cream cheese. The relish can be heated, but the process of heating the cream cheese for too long or too fast can cause it to separate. If you have further questions, please contact us at social@harryanddavid.com. Thank you!
Does anyone know how long the onion & pepper relish will last in the refrigerator once it has been opened? I have only used half a jar and am not sure how long to keep the rest?
I love the pepper and onion relish. I just combined it with classic hummus – to taste. YUMMO! I do love it with cream cheese but using hummus makes it a bit healthier and it still tastes very good! I highly recommend you try it.
